Sana’a — The Ministry of Finance in the Houthi-controlled government in Sana’a, which is not internationally recognized, has moved forward with a decision to reduce the salaries of administrative staff in the education sector across areas under the group’s control.

According to local sources, the measure affects thousands of employees working in schools and educational offices, many of whom have already faced irregular salary payments since the outbreak of the conflict. 

The ministry’s decision is reportedly part of a broader austerity policy aimed at addressing financial shortfalls amid the ongoing war and economic collapse.

Education unions and staff members have voiced concern that the cuts will further strain an already fragile sector, warning of potential disruptions to school operations and administrative functions.
